Help Me Improve The Digital Edge!…

The start of the year is always a good time to make adjustments…

I haven’t made any significant changes to The Digital Edge in well over a year.

From a content perspective, my posts are mostly technical in nature, though I do cover a wide range of other topics as well. While I can tell from usage stats that some topics seem to be more popular than others, to this point I haven’t made a conscience effort to tailor what I post about based on that.

As a point of interest, here are some general trends I have found:

  • Posts on politics and Apple tend to get the most cross links
  • Deeper technical posts generate the most feedback (for some reason, usually via email).
  • My most popular posts – by a wide margin – are episodes of the video series I have produced.

On the layout front, I haven’t done much to change the overall layout or look of the site. I did launch a companion site for video programs (digitaledge.tv), but haven’t really developed that out or integrated it more closely with the main blog.

Essentially, development of the blog has been more opportunistically driven and less planned than I would like.

So it’s time to apply a little more discipline to the process…

With readership growing, I figured a good place to start is to ask everyone more directly what I could be doing to improve The Digital Edge, and make it a more useful and interesting resource.

To that end, I have put together a brief survey to gather your feedback and suggestions. (It appears right at the end of this post.) There are only 5 questions – all of which are optional. Any answers you provide would be valuable to me and greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to help!…

NOTE: Please click on the “Finished? Submit your survey.” button at the bottom of the survey when you are done filling it out. There have been a large number of ‘abandoned’ surveys – survey’s that were filled in but never submitted. I want to be sure everyone’s voice is heard, so feel free to ‘vote again’ if you think this might have happened to you!

Dear John, I work in the NY business development office for the Gov’t of Madrid, Spain. I would like to introduce you to a company from Madrid that has a natural, multilingual search engine technology. The owner of the company is coming to New York May 26-28, and I would appreciate your meeting to exchange information about your companies and business opportunities. The company is called Bitext, and I could send you information if you provide an email address.
Thank you,

Paul Vella
